Aston Villa turned a Champions League home night into a rout, beating Fenerbahçe 6-0 for the largest margin in the club’s European history. With the Prince of Wales watching and the Holte End roaring despite the missing North Stand, Unai Emery’s side scored three before the break and three after.

Johan Manzambi marked his 21st birthday and first Champions League start by forcing a deflected opener past Ederson after a short corner. Nicolas Jackson then drilled two finishes to Ederson’s right before half-time, both sparked by midfield service. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki’s saves from Vedat Muriqi kept the visitors from a foothold; Oğuz Aydın later clipped the bar.

Manzambi won a second-half penalty that Ross Barkley converted, then Barkley added a deflected fifth. Substitute Alysson teed up Tammy Abraham for the sixth in stoppage time. Jackson now has five goals since his summer move from Chelsea and three in two European ties; Manzambi, signed from Freiburg, looked the game’s most inventive creator.

Emery said the first home win of the season mattered more than the scoreline and praised tighter control after the interval. Fenerbahçe coach İsmail Kartal apologised to travelling supporters, calling the result unacceptable at this level. Mason Greenwood, back in an English stadium for the first time in years, was booed on every touch and substituted to louder jeers.

Two wins from two in the league phase put Villa on a strong European footing even while Premier League form lags. The demolition underlines Emery’s bet: a rebuilt attack that can overwhelm continental visitors at Villa Park and erase early-season scoring droughts in a single night.
